HackThor – One Driver, Zero Compromises!
JENZ presents new self-propelled chipper
Chipper manufacturer JENZ is presenting its largest development project in recent years: the newly designed self-propelled HackThor! The HackThor combines the outstanding economy of a JENZ self-propelled chippertruck with a new and innovative cab concept, which was developed exclusively for the chipping process for the first time.
There have been different cab variants on the market for self-propelled woodchippers: truck cabs with glazing suitable for mowing, crane cabins or adapted soil harvesting cabins. On the other hand, there are a variety of special cabins for other vehicles, such as excavators, maize choppers, and beet harvesters. What’s missing is the chipper cabin. Why don’t chipper drivers actually have their own cabin? Don’t they deserve a cabin that meets their exact requirements? JENZ thinks they do! The result was the HackThor.
Optimum visibility and maximum safety
In the liftable “JENZ Skyview” option, it has a cabin lifting function up to a height of 4.70 m eye level with perfect visibility into all collection vehicles. The offset of the cab also increases the usable crane slewing range. A well-thought-out window concept with all-round glazing ensures a 360-degree all-round view. In addition, curved windows in the direction of the work area provide a clear view on embankments and increase the maximum crane reach – also thanks to the omitted steering wheel, which remains in the front area of the cab. Specially designed height windows enable a dislocation-free view up to over 10m pile height and ensure a previously unattainable level of safety. Additional safety is also provided by the newly developed lighting concept, in which optimum floodlights have been selected for each work area.
Three-zone concept for maximum comfort
Inside, the HackThor cabin has an electrically actuated swivel seat as well as a “three-zone concept”. The entire chipping process consists of three phases: driving, chipping, waiting. The actual chipping part of the process takes up much less time than many assume. While driving, the highest level of comfort is required for movement on the road, during chipping an overview of the machine, woodpiles and loading vehicles counts, and in the phases in between, it is all about recovery time for the chipper driver. This is taken into account with a special relaxation zone
including a coffee machine, microwave and refrigerator. In addition other highlights such as ambient lighting, sound system with subwoofer, 230 V voltage in the cabin, electrically retractable mirrors and much more are available.
A large window surface requires a well-thought-out cooling and heating concept. Air conditioning, seat cooling and the decoupling of engine and cab specially developed for the cabin ensure pleasant temperatures in summer. Sufficient sun protection is ensured by electrically darken able panes in the roof. In cold temperatures, auxiliary heating, underfloor and seat heating ensure pleasant working conditions.
